Only funeral directors holding a permit from the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux may negotiate contracts for prearranged funeral services or sepulchres. Each of these two services must be covered in a separate, written contract.
These are unusual contracts, in that a long period of time often elapses between the signing of the contract and its performance. Particular attention must therefore be given to questions concerning the preservation, amendment, cancellation and performance of the contract.
