Only products that meet or surpass certain technical requirements can be labelled with the Energy Star symbol. The specifications, which differ for each category of product, make it possible to certify that a product really does offer optimal energy efficiency. As a rule, the efficiency of an Energy Star model must be between 10% and 50% better than that of a similar conventional model.
